Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
Kinetic is operated by Peak Pixel Limited, a New Zealand company (“Kinetic”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information the Kinetic service collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers this website, the guest photo portal, and our apps: Kinetic Studio (Mac), Kinetic Capture (iPhone) and Kinetic Console (iPad). We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who this applies to
- Venues and their staff: the businesses that use Kinetic, and the owners, staff and installers who sign in to set it up and run it.
- Guests: the people a venue films on its lanes, and who may buy their photos and videos.
For guest footage, the venue decides to capture it and is responsible for telling guests; we store and process it on the venue’s behalf to deliver the service.
What we collect
From venues (Kinetic Studio)
- Account details: your name and email address from Sign in with Apple, Google or Microsoft, and a user ID.
- Venue details: business name, address, phone number, website, country and map location. If you enter a venue by hand, Kinetic Studio may use the Mac’s location to place it on the map.
- Brand and setup: logo, colours, fonts and activity type (read from your public website), prices, lanes, cameras and storage settings.
- Devices: an identifier for the venue’s Mac, its name, model and software versions, and the name, model and an app-generated identifier for each paired iPhone and iPad.
- Network setup: connection type, network address range and the Wi-Fi network name the lane devices should join (never the password).
- Wristbands: each band’s printed number, chip ID and status. Wristbands are not linked to a guest’s name.
- Storage and health status of the venue’s devices, so we can warn you before a device runs out of space.
- When you accept our terms: the time, the terms version, your IP address and browser or app details, as a record of the agreement.
From guests (Kinetic Capture and Kinetic Console)
- Photos and videos of guests on the lane, including sound.
- Session details: the guest’s wristband or customer number, the lane, camera and time of the session. Kinetic Console reads the number from a wristband, a QR code or by typing it in.
- If a guest buys media on the portal: their email address, and their name if they give it, and the order details.
Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers. Payouts to venues are set up on Stripe’s own site.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in our apps.
- We don’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites, and we don’t sell personal information.
- Camera and Bluetooth on the iPad are used only to pair and to read wristbands; nothing from them is uploaded except the number read.
How we use it
- To run the service: pair and manage a venue’s devices, capture and store sessions, and let guests view and buy their media.
- To take payments for venues and pay out their share.
- To set up a venue’s branding and pricing, and to support installers handing a venue over to its owner.
- To send service emails, such as owner invitations and storage alerts.
- To keep the service secure, and to meet our legal obligations.
On the venue’s network
The Mac, iPhones and iPads at a venue talk to each other directly over the local network using encrypted connections. Footage is stored on the venue’s Mac encrypted, and is uploaded to cloud storage either from the Mac or straight from the lane iPhone.
Who we share it with
We use these service providers to run Kinetic. They process information only on our instructions:
- Supabase: accounts, database and server functions.
- Amazon Web Services or our own storage servers: storing photos and videos.
- Stripe: payments and venue payouts.
- Anthropic: reads a venue’s public website text to suggest its activity type. No guest data is sent.
- Resend: sending service emails.
- Apple, Google and Microsoft: signing in, if you choose them.
A venue can see the photos, videos and orders from its own lanes. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Some providers store data outside New Zealand (for example in Australia or the United States); when they do, we rely on them to protect it to a standard comparable to New Zealand law.
How long we keep it
- Lane iPhones delete footage once it has been safely delivered, by default after 3 to 7 days.
- The venue’s Mac keeps footage for the period the venue chooses (30 days by default), and only deletes what has been uploaded.
- Cloud footage, orders and account data are kept while the venue uses Kinetic. When a venue closes its account, or a guest or user asks us to delete their information, we delete it unless we need to keep it by law (for example, financial records).
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, including deleting your Kinetic account. Email info@kinetic.photo. Guests can also ask the venue that filmed them. If you’re not happy with how we handle your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Children
Kinetic is a tool for businesses and isn’t directed at children. A venue that films guests under 16 is responsible for getting a parent’s or guardian’s consent.
Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top.
